Navigating disability benefits can sometimes feel like trying to solve a puzzle without all the pieces. Between changing programs, government updates, and unfamiliar acronyms, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The good news? Help is on the way.
On June 16, 2026, AutismBC is hosting a free virtual webinar, Know Your Benefits: Navigating the DTC, RDSP, and BC’s New Disability Funding, designed to help individuals and families better understand the financial supports available to them. Whether you're an autistic adult, a parent, caregiver, self-advocate, or professional, this informative session aims to make disability benefits more accessible and easier to understand.
One of the biggest topics covered will be the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), a valuable federal program that can unlock access to additional financial supports. Attendees will learn about recent eligibility changes, practical application tips, and how to effectively describe sensory, mental function, and other disability-related impacts when completing an application. The webinar will also address a common concern: what steps to take if a DTC application is denied.
The timing couldn't be better. British Columbia is introducing significant changes to disability funding programs for children and youth, including the transition away from the Autism Funding Program. Families looking for clarity on what comes next will have an opportunity to learn about BC's new disability funding programs and the BC Children & Youth Disability Supplement.
The session will also explore other important resources, including the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) and the Canada Disability Benefit. These programs can provide meaningful financial support, helping individuals and families plan for both current and future needs.

Leading the webinar is Lauren Stinson from Disability Alliance BC (DABC), a respected advocate and expert in Disability Tax Credit applications. Drawing from both professional expertise and lived experience, Lauren has helped countless individuals successfully navigate complex systems and gain access to the benefits they deserve. Her approachable style and practical guidance make challenging topics easier to understand and apply.
One important detail: this webinar will not be recorded. That means attending live is the best way to benefit from the full presentation and participate in the interactive Q&A session, where attendees can ask questions and gain personalized insights.

Knowledge is empowering, especially when it comes to accessing supports that can improve quality of life. If you or someone you know could benefit from a better understanding of disability funding and benefits in BC, this webinar is an excellent opportunity to learn, connect, and feel more confident about the road ahead.
